SCOPE OF THE JOB:
To maximize the Profit Center’s long-term market penetration, return on investment and profit sharing.
Foster the creation of harmonious, solid and mutually profitable business relationships with vendors and customers.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish and implements a short, mid, and long term business plan which will determine the opportunities, objectives and goals of the Profit Center in terms of sales, customer service, cost control, asset management and profitability.
Identify and takes advantage of unrealized opportunities for expansion in the Profit Center’s region, either through existing or potential customers and products.
Establish the Profit Center’s marketing and sales planning, determine sales territories, individual sales objectives and gross margin targets; review customer base distribution to maximize penetration and profitability.
Identify, attract, develop, motivate and retain outstanding employees in his/her Profit Center.
Increase the Profit Center’s profitability through systematic control of costs, expenses and investments.
Accountable for sales development and customer service.
REQUIREMENTS:
A minimum of ten (10) years related experience in the industry, and at least five (5) years in external sales, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledgeable of the market conditions(trends, competition and possible opportunities).
Strong abilities in leadership, in negotiating and management.
Results oriented.

Responsibilities:
- The business manager for the gear motor business will manage a staff of about 8 people who are located in Markham Ontario, as well 2 additional people in the USA
- Responsible for management of the applications, sales and service of gear motor products in Canada and the USA
- Coordinate with the plants in Burlington, Ontario as well as Germany to ensure profitable business through optimization of transfer pricing, deliveries schedules and margin level
- The most critical part of this position is to manage the dedicated sales staff and distributors both in Canada and the USA to meet the high growth targets for this business
- Extensive travel is required to visit customers and distributors throughout Canada and the USA (approx 50%)
Qualifications:
- A mechanical engineering degree or equivalent with 10 years experience in the mechanical engineering field
- At least 5 of those years will have been in the area of either business or sales management of a manufacturer of gear motors or gear boxes.
- Strong understanding of gear motor marketplace, applications and technology. Candidates with equivalent experience in the low-voltage motor or coupling background may also be considered, provided they bring with them adequate mechanical understanding.
- Strong team player and able to motivate local and remotely located staff in Canada and the USA.
- Strong customer orientation and change management skills
